Undelivered Report by E.Kudusov

Saying about the historical significance of the reform of 1861, carried out by Russian Emperor Alexander the Second, we have to note that unfortunately, given its apparent and evident progressiveness this reform was performed too late. Why? Because the age of slavery that was established in Russian space after coming of Norwegian tribe of Russes headed by Rurik in 862 protracted for thousand years. This term turned out to be fatal for the subject Slavic tribes during the formation of their mentality. They submitted to this slave position to such extent that now it is impossible to squeeze even drop by drop a slave from the descendants of Slavs, subjected by Russes. The consequence of this historical casus was long-lasting existence of two absolutely different ethnic formations on one territory: ethnic group of slaves and ethnic group of lords (according to Lermontov “The country of slaves, the country of gentlemen”). At this, both ethnic groups were referred to as Russians, though, initially only subjected Slavs were called Russians. But, later on this ethnic name stuck to slaveholders as well (usually, the name of an ethnic group is given by their neighbors, the original name do not remain in the memory of neighbor peoples).
The result of this long-term co-existence of socially different ethnic groups in one single state became the impossibility of formation of a single nation in this slaveholding state. The slaves and slaveholders were united only by the common language. In all other aspects they were so different that the unity of the nation was out of the question. It was Berdyaev who paid attention to this fact, underscoring the dualism and “super inconsistency” of Russian people united in the result of the reform. Starting from the very beginning of the conquest of Slavic tribes by Vikings – Varangians the difference of life style and mentality of the conquerors and the conquered people was immense and did not decrease, but increased from generation to generation, despite the common territory of existence of these two ethnic groups.
The reason of this consequence was the fact that Russian slaveholding system started developing from the very beginning in compliance with Sparta principle, which, being the most radical of all the existed ones didn’t let mixing of the ethnic group of slaves with the ethnic group of slaveholders (the conquered helots lived separately in Sparta, and mixed marriages were strictly prohibited). In Russia like in ancient Sparta the class borders coincided with the ethnic ones. That is why mixing of ethnic groups was impossible. Norwegians – Russes who came to the lands of Eastern Slavs didn’t marry Slavic women, but married foreign princesses. They even didn’t recruit slaves – Slavs to their fighting squads in order to preserve the class – ethnic unity. It was only Peter the First (after 800 years from the beginning of slavery) dared to violate this tradition when he reformed the army, changing Strelets to recruit-soldiers from the class of slaves (without the right to become an officer).
Thus, the reform of Alexander the Second was aimed first of all at uniting of these two very different Russian people by means of equalization of their rights. However, from the very beginning this act promised nothing good, because one couldn’t reconcile contraries. Destroying the thousand-year traditions with a stroke of the pen was not only unwise and unreasonable, but fraught with undesirable consequences. Equate villein to hereditary aristocrat was just dangerously explosive. It is natural that it exploded. The result could be foreseen and forecasted. However, nothing was done to prevent it. On the contrary, Nikolay the Second, meddling in the world war armed four million villeins who took their chance and turned their weapon against their centuries-old conquerors partly destroying them in a civil war, partly banishing them from Russia, but the major remaining part was subjected to 70-year-long genocide during the existence of the Communist regime. The ethnic group of villeins – slaves took revenge over the thousand-year slavery and murdered the cream of Russian nation.
So, what we obtained in 150 years after the declaration of equality of slaves with lords – slaveholders? First, it is preponderance of slave mentality in mixed Russian people, because there were several times more slaves in the country. I won’t explain what slave mentality is in order not to be blamed in xenophobia (you see, the slaves were Slavs). I’ll just say that in all time all over the world slaves were despised, because no one and never wanted to honor, imitate or even sympathize with this kind of people.
You know, it were slaves who irresponsibly destroyed the best and the most talented part of Russian nation and its gene pool, dominating for 70 years in the country that showed the whole mankind the examples of highest culture, science and art. Stalin – the leader of Russian – Slavic majority of Russian people destroying the cream of Russian nation during all his governance achieved mainly the general moronity of the country of Soviets. The fact the Stalin is still stands in awe of the majority of Russian people tells only about one thing – the high percentage of morons among this part of population.
Unfortunately, such are the outcomes of Alexander the Second’s reform.
Now few notes concerning the request of the chairing Leonid Gozman to answer the question what’s waiting for us: reform from the top or rebel from the bottom.
One could answer these questions briefly and curtly. But only on condition that we would know for sure: who is the real leader in our country – Mr. Putin or Mr. Medvedev. If it is Mr. Putin, then there will be one answer. If it is Mr. Medvedev then there will be another answer, almost the contrary one. However, the very problem is that there is no one who dares to tell what the limits of Mr. Medvedev’s power are. Formally Mr. Medvedev governs, but in fact… it’s a big question. Here I can just make guesses, because, on one hand even a child understood long ago that Mr. Putin is the chief puppeteer. However, everything is not as simple as it seems. It would be too primitive to call Mr. Medvedev a weak-willed poppet, though there are more than enough reasons to characterize the President of the country as such… I reasonably stop at this unfinished thought and put three dots. A single thing that I can add as an ethnographer is that Mr. Putin is a direct descendant of Russian Slavs unlike Mr. Medvedev.

P.S. Having a silent and servile approval of the slave majority to his brutalities against Russian intellectuals, nobility and clergy Stalin proceeded to the genocide of the whole peoples, numbering 13, continuing at the same time the paranoiac selection of the whole USSR population.
