Dear compatriots and friends! Today I have the opportunity to tell you about the events the meaning of which you couldn't evaluate at once, but after the lapse of not one but many years. I’m telling about the birth of a writer. It comes about not just a common writer, you see we have lot's of writers. I’m telling about the special generation of writers, about the writers of historical novel. There are many writers in the world, there are even too many of them. Their amount reaches tens of thousands. However, the authors of historical novel we know by a name. Why? You see, there are few of them. There are not many of them because in order to become a historical writer one has to have in addition the outstanding imagination that is not naturally given to every person. The great Einstein noted that the good scientist has to have an outstanding imagination. Without it he just becomes a mere accumulator of knowledge, but he will not be able to generate new knowledge and discoveries. Well, for the historical writer who not just copying life from the reality presenting it to us as an epistolary work, and invent what is not exist already long ago, having good imagination is just necessary. Otherwise the description will be primitive and unreal, in which we – the readers will not believe.
That is why not every writer could become a historical writer, even if he has the historical education. One also has to have the given by nature outstanding imagination, that help this person to see the past in a way we see the present. Gulnara Abdulaeva possesses the given by a nature such abilities. This very capability allowed her become a historical writer.
However, I would be ridiculously wrong asserting that the person is enough to have particular abilities and he is already a writer. It isn’t so, indeed! It is far from being the truth! In order to make it clear I will provide an example from my own experience for comparison. The natural mineral diamond is not much to look at. It is hard to distinguish it from the rest of the minerals, only an expert can do this. Turning the diamond into the brilliant requires lots and lots of work. Brillianteer is what makes apparently unremarkable diamond into the precious brilliant that astounds people’s eyes. Well, Gulnara Abdulaeva is that very diamond that I occasionally found out and separated out from the crowd of thousands of people, realizing that brillianteer of this outstanding person – the fact that she is an outstanding person I understood as an expert and it will turn her into the historical writer. And I started working on her. Right on her, while she worked on her book. My role was that I suggested her what and how to do in order that her novel become an outstanding phenomenon of our time. And I am sure that it will be so.
Because of the sudden disease I couldn’t be present at the presentation. I also haven’t seen the book yet. However, I know by heart the content of the published volume, because it was created before my very eyes. I rewrote the novel more than four times. And the first variant differs from the last one, like a child differs from a mature person. I am sure that the next two volumes will leave lasting impression in a reader. Because her brillianteer goes on yet. At this I one more time emphasize the idea stated at the beginning of my speech: No other stone except diamond could turn into the brilliant. In other word the natural gift is primary. Gulnara is really a talented person. At this she is amazingly industrious. For me as a former university’s lecturer who used to be in charge not only of the writers of a degree thesis, but graduates, it was pleasure to observe the professional growth of Gulnara during her work on her novel. She literally quickly caught on to ideas that I proposed, and after creatively comprehended them she implemented them in the novel, at this having had time to read through piles of literature. How many discoveries she could make during that time! In general, in the process of her work over the novel I observed with pleasure the metamorphosis, in other words – turning seemingly simply pretty girl into the professional writer with an outstanding talent.
In conclusion of my protracted speech I would like to site Pushkin’s words that he said in his young age on the farewell graduation exercises on the occasion of finishing the lycee in presence of Derzhavin who was an authority example for imitation for young Pushkin.
“… An old man Derzhavin noticed us and blessed us at passing away”.
Well, in this case I play the role of an old man Derzhavin. I don’t mean that I going to pass away – I am going to wait a little with this, I mean that I bless our young talent for creation of historical masterpieces of writer’s work. At this I would like to note that there wasn’t any historical writers with artistic trend among the Crimean Tatar writers yet. Neither in the past, not in the present. Gulnara is yet a single and unique representative of writers of this school. I ask you to pay a special attention to this symbolic phenomenon.
Thank you for your attention.
